The Atonement Killer is killing young women along Interstate 40, and all the FBI has is a tenuous profile—a religious zealot bent on ritualistic sacrifice.
However, when a small town female cop, JOLENE DYKES, crosses paths with the killer, the FBI at last has an eyewitness.
Problem is, Jolene has no faith in the FBI and decides to stalk the killer alone to administer her own version of atonement.

When I first started reading this book I thought it might be some form of female empowerment novel. But really it wasn't it was a mystery thriller with a lot of different twists and turns with dealing with the serial killer here part of a religious cult. I think the religious cult aspect Seward of concluded rather abruptly but not unexpectedly if this were real life I think the ending was very good in that it tied in with the beginning of the protagonist's story and lifeProduct details

The Sleeping Cab eBook Daniel Koehler Reviews
Strange and creepy.
I've never read a book start-to-finish in one sitting, but yesterday I did that with "The Sleeping Cab." The first chapter completely hooked, lined, and sinkered me. With delicious character profiles, believable dialogue, and a plotline with more twists than a Chubby Checker song, Mr. Koehler has hit a home run. One word of caution if you start reading this book, allow yourself plenty of time, because you will not put it down after the first chapter!
Potentially interesting story with not that obvious ending. Lots of action. However I was not able to find at least one likable character (if that was on purpose than author succeeded).
Guess we've all wondered about the sleeping cabs that we see on trucks. Here's a peek into the space in one of those. I was afraid it was going to be one of those religious books, but it turned out to be more of an insight into how people can become brainwashed living in a cult situation. I'm not saying that the group mentioned in this book is a cult.
Not much of one to write a review but after seeing that there was only one for this book, I thought I would add to it. I purchased this because of the I-40 connection for me. It was a great read, kept my interest all the way through. I love thrillers and feel I have to finish every book I start but this one was a piece of cake. You won't be sorry, go ahead and get this one. I finished it quite a while ago but I still think of it when I go past the truck stop on I-40 in Tennessee.
I came upon this novel during the Holiday Season and decided to give it a try. At first, the story really interested me and I really got into the plot and started to sympathize with many of the characters. As the story progressed and further developed, Koehler's brief look/exploration into extreme religious cults was disappointing. The final atonement scene was also very anti-climatic. Easy read, yet some big holes that need to be filled.
This was suspenseful and while you learned early who the killer was the twists and turns in the investigation kept you guessing. Factor in the cult aspect of the storyline made the hunt all that more worthwhile. When you think about all the news over recent years and how exempt churches are from many things make this story all the more suspect. Fanatics exists in every facet of life. The ability to change your rationale to fit your agenda makes you think who could turn so far too the left to believe that murder is not only okay but a necessity. Don't miss out!
