When Rebecca Channing promises to hide a mysterious painting known as 'The Dance' for her estranged father, she wants only to gain an ounce of affection from him. He whisks her away to his island and his family takes her in, giving her the love and affection she'd been denied all her life. Her pursuers, however, are relentless. Soon, it becomes evident that the painting was only a cover and what they really want is Rebecca.
With time running out and the thugs hot on their trail, Rebecca must fight to protect those she has come to love and her heart.

A suspenseful and romantic story about a young ballerina who finds herself in danger because of her own father's careless dealings. While running for her life she meets the enigmatic Gideon and is swept into his life and family. Having known little of a loving family and home she is immediately caught off guard by Gideon's loving family and is also racked with guilt over putting them in danger. Somehow Rebecca must find a way to save Gideon and his wonderful family from the dangerous people who are plaguing her every step while also guarding her heart from the moody but loveable Gideon.Yes there were some typos and editing errors in this book as well as the problem another reviewer mentioned in Chapter 5 with the words being cut off but thankfully within a few pages of the next chapter that problem was gone. It did make reading those few pages a bit annoying but it didn't make them unreadable. Overall if you can forgive the amateur editing isssues the story is worth the read.

You have to love a book with a happy ending. I mean for everyone, from the heroines parents and their non relationship to their daughter to the man she loves and his fam.
Can you imagine your own father putting your life in danger, all for him to pull off a con?! Along will lots of action, a woman who can hold her own with a man, and finding love for the first time this book is a satisfying and heart warming read. Can't wait to see what happens with Colin!
I really enjoyed this book. I will look for more titles by Kadi Dillon. I love a good romance building book and this is a nice one, a little danger a little attitude, a little mystery and overcoming emotional baggage so love can bloom.
if you want a sweet romance with a great story line that will hold your attention this is it. Some may not agree but I loved this book because it was tastefully done.
Dancing with Deception (Avery Family Saga)
Compelling mystery romance with a bit of snark. It's a fun read but not very believable.
Given the failures of Rebecca's parents it is not realistic that a simple "sorry" fixes everything. Rebecca's father is a con man who endangered her life. His dealings almost destroyed the Avery Family and everyone is okay with that? No, that does not work. Basic survival and common sense would not allow Rebecca's toxic parents anywhere near the Avery Family.
Not a cliff-hanger.
I may re-read this story and look forward to other works by this author.
HORRIBLY written book!! Call me crazy but a writer should know the difference between the use of the word "waste" and "waist"!! Hands aren't slipped around someone's "waste"!! You can tell where the writer stepped away from her writing & didn't re-read her last paragraph or so before resuming her writing.....lots of inconsistencies in the story.... I won't bother reading anymore of this authors books if they're all written this way!
Wonderful story with a physically strong woman who was a bit damaged emotionally. The Avery family was awesome and I loved every single one of them. It was a battle to get Rebecca to accept that Gideon's love was the forever kind. Exciting mystery with some shady characters thrown in the mix. Spiders............I absolutely laughed so hard every time there was a spider "incident". LOL
***Favorite line He could kiss her a thousand times, but it would never be as shattering as holding her hand in his.*****
I always thought holding a loved one's hand was the warmest and sexiest thing ever myself. sigh........Can't wait for the next book and hopefully hear more from Rebecca and Gideon, too. It's worth trying for sure!
Great story. I love this author's writing. Rebecca annoyed me so much because she kept running away from the only people that wanted to help her, which was just dumb on her part. I understood why she acted that way, but I just couldn't agree with her.
I really liked Gideon so I guess that's why it was hard to side with her. I felt that Gideon proved to her many times over that he would help her & basically put everything on the line for her. She owed him a bit more then just disappearing so many times. She was just so flighty. Then also, after you weigh all the sacrifices that Gideon made for her, I feel like she made out like a bandit. She never once proved herself to him, that she was in it for the long haul - hey, that would be a great follow up story!
I loved the book, Gideon obviously was my favorite character, then my next fav. was Jess. I felt sympathy for Rebecca's situation but the Avery family shined in this story.
Can't wait to read the next book in the Avery series which focuses on Colin. )
