This debut novel from Jaycee Ford had me smiling, giggling and my heart beating erratically page by page.

I immediately connected with the leading lady, Jordan Hawthorne. She has her demons and her flaws, but she is a hard-headed, determined, likable, and confident in such a way that you can’t help but route for her. Especially when she left home in such a hurried fashion due to a douchey ex and needs to put as many miles as possible between them. She isn’t necessarily prepared for love again, but ends up walking right into it … more like “he” walked right into it, rather *snicker* (read this book!)

What’s not to love when it comes to Tom McCloud? He is fiercely loyal and passionate and in awe of a beautiful woman … especially when he accidently stumbles into witnessing her naked in tub. I think I blushed for him. He’s incredibly charming and pulls this story along, while keeping Jordan level, too. Sure, they fall in love with each other, but it’s the way that Tom is so enamored with her that really has me swooning. Did I mention he’s a sexy cowboy as well?

The cast of characters that reveal themselves throughout the story are equally as likable and help everything come together nicely as it sets the stage of small town living perfectly. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series just to see how the lives of some of these characters pan out. They are all as intriguing and swoon/smile worthy as the main characters.

The ending to this is turbulent and exciting in the best way, and the way the pages come to “The End” you will be grinning like an idiot too. I know I was. Can’t wait to get my hands on this whole series. Any lover of romance won't be able to put it down.

This is the first book I've read by the exceptionally talented Jaycee Ford, and it is exceptionally impressive that this caliber of writing is her debut novel. She puts words on the page with a skill level that defies her experience. Jaycee's stories are sweet but with an edge. With this book, she has built relatable characters, who you are genuinely pulling for, as well as an interesting, exciting and sexy story that had me tapping my screen. I positively devoured this book.

Jordan Hawthorne is a happy woman on the cusp of having it all. She's nailed a coveted teaching position, and she is happily engaged to a gorgeous, wealthy, successful man named Ryan. She has her best friend, Katherine, and her life is moving where she wants it to go. Until she comes home a day early to surprise Ryan, and, much to her horror, she is the one who is surprised. She then sees a side to Ryan that she's never seen before. Anxious, heartbroken and desperately needing a to get away from the constant fear of Ryan that is consuming her life, she flees Charlotte for the foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains and a fresh start.

Tom McCloud is a cowboy. He owns a farm, and his two best friends, Lance and Paul work for him. He works hard, long hours, and he plays hard. He doesn't have time for a girlfriend and he isn't looking to settle down. The farm is his first priority. He's a genuinely nice guy; gentlemanly, kind and always willing to lend a hand. His aunt and uncle, the only living relatives he has, own the inn in town, and Tom can often be found there lending a hand. Tom first lays eyes on Jordan at the inn , and their first meeting is very awkward leaving Tom utterly speechless and completely dumbstruck. He's never had a reaction to a woman like that before, and with that one brief encounter, Tom's previous contentment with his bachelor lifestyle starts to evaporate and he's rethinking his single guy status.

"With the promise of something new and fresh in front of me, I grabbed hold..."

Tom and Jordan's attraction is instant, undeniable and very mutual. The pull towards each other cannot be denied, and their connection is very real. They both feel it and something big is happening for both of them. He knows he wants more from her. Jordan is thrilled to feel excitement at the possibility of Tom, of moving past Ryan, of something new and pure and good. Jaycee's writing is so descriptive and realistic, I felt that excitement, this connection, and the build up for these characters; I was completely taken in by their whirlwind romance. Unfortunately, Ryan isn't done with Jordan yet.

"I always get what I want."

Ryan charges back into Jordan's life in the most disturbing ways. Frightening information about Ryan comes to light, and Tom is terrified for Jordan. They had quite the ordeal to get through in dealing with Ryan's madness, but they came out on the other side together and stronger.

I loved this story so much. Jaycee has a masterful ability to tell a story. She can create these characters and places that the reader can't help but be swept up in. It was a pleasure reading Tom and Jordan's story, I'm excited about the next books in the series, as well as whatever else the talented Jaycee Ford has in store for her readers.
Love me some hot cowboys with manners, "after lowering me to the ground, he held on to me and said, "tell you what. Why don't you go over to Ellie's booth and give me a second to, umm...settle down, and I'll grab you a beer." It's true ladies everything is bigger with southern men, "I pushed down my jeans and my boxer briefs, and as I slowly kneeled over her,she eyes me in near astonishment. She looked up at me with questioning eyes as I lowered myself on top of her. "Tom, I don't think it's going to fit." Tom is the sweetest, gentlest man and he aims to please his girl, "oh God, you don't like beef...I can make chicken...or we have salad..." He frantically looked through his fridge." Tom he's not one to do things half measures no matter the state he's in, "Tom, do you have any care for organization?" He laughed as he continued with the task at hand. "There's nothing wrong with seeing a naked cowboy, but do you want to put on clothes before you dismantle my suite?" These characters are lovable and entertaining and I can't wait to see whose next.
It was everything and more. It was the very first book that I read about the country and I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to like it since I'm more of a city kind of girl. Oh but how wrong I was, I fell in love with this book! Made me laugh, made me cry, made me believe that I might one day fall in love with a cowboy… *sigh*...
Jordan was PERFECT, the type of girl who doesn't take anyones bs AND knows how to stand up for herself, thinks before she acts, and well balanced.
Tom… well Tom was absolutely freaking AMAZING!
buuuuuuutttt I believe that Ellie was my favorite!! I just simply adore her!

I also fell in love with the author's writing, which i didn't even think it was possible to fall in love with someone's writing but i did! The way she writes just makes you FEEL! She describes everything in such a perfect way that you just can't help but actually feel that you're in the story, do I make any sense? haha

There are few chapters where there is talk of delicious food…. soooo if you're reading this book in the middle of the night just beware that you might get very hungry! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
