Aubrie Dionne's THE VOICES OF IRE follows Azalin's journey. With poetic prose, believable characters, and a fantastic world, the novel tells how everyone deserves a second chance. The pacing is excellent, and Ms. Dionne excels in pulling the reader into her invented world. I easily fell in love with the characters and was yanked into Azalin's journey and felt her pangs of seemingly unrequited love and desire to save her kingdom above all costs. Most of all, Ms. Dionne's telling of the novel is pure and heartfelt. THE VOICES OF IRE is worth reading, especially if you enjoy fantasy and a story of second chances, hope, and love.Tags : The Voices of Ire [Aubrie Dionne] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. This book is well written and thought out. The imagery is amazing and a story that actually goes with it. I recommend this for adults and young adults. Thank you!
The Voices of Ire is like stepping into a magical land. The land is ruled by Wishcasters, and is threatened by the Murk.
Young Azalin, struggling to hide her powers and fit in with her neighbors, proves to be a wonderful character.
When she is invited to the Eaglecrest Kingdom to participate in the trials, which will determine the positions of the new Wishcasters, she doesn't go with excitement. Accompanied by her best friend, she makes the journey, and discovers her new role in life.
The characters in this book are interesting and lovable. Aubrie created a world of magic that is easy to walk in to. This book is well written and would be a great read for young adults or adults.
The Voices of Ire is a fantastic fantasy read. It follows Azalin, a young wishcaster, who is thrust into a malicious circle of politics and pettiness, battling not only in the 'wishcaster trials', but also to find her place of belonging. As the trials take place, the kingdom comes under attack; Azalin, who turns out to be the most powerful wishcaster the kingdom has known, is under direct attack not only from this evil enemy of Ire, but also from the manipulating Blue Queen who has plans of her own. To make matters even more complex, the winner of the trials will become the next Wishcaster Queen, displacing the current monarchy and marrying the prince who Azalin despises.
As a teen fiction, it encompases the need to belong in a world that seems to be made for someone else. I would highly recommend this read for young adults and the young at heart. This tale has many threads that come together beautifully at the end with a conclusion that will leave you begging for more.
This is a beautifully written story in which the small town of Farmford sits in a land ruled by Wishcasters - women with elemental magic. Azalin Sunmerrier is a young woman whose powers had isolated her from the other villagers. She has the rare ability to control all four elements and cannot imagine the path destiny has set for her. She is taken to Castle Eaglecrest with her best friend, Milli, and must compete in a series of dangerous trials that will determine who the next Wishcaster Queen will be. Her simple life has become all the more complicated with conspiracies piling on top of each other, a fiery rival, and a handsome prince that has captured her heart. As if that is not enough, there is the looming threat from the Murk which might very well destroy everything and everyone Azalin loves.
Aubrie Dionne has expertly wove a magnificent fairy tale and it easily catches the reader in its spell. This is fantasy at its finest. There are sumptuous descriptions, enchanting characters and a story that has as many threads as a spider web, beautiful and glistening with dew in the morning light. The story unfolds primarily from Azalin's point of view, but Dionne allows the reader to see through other characters' eyes and enriches the tale to its full delight. Dionne has an elegant style and a way with words that draws the reader into her world with seemingly little effort.
Azalin is a strong and admirable protagonist. Not because she has such rare power, but because she has a virtuous heart, and a strength built from hard work, good family and friends. Her friendship with Milli makes one feel as if they were sisters rather than friends. Their relationship is a nice compliment to Ash and Willow Redfern's. They're a pair of brothers who escort Azalin and Milli to Castle Eaglecrest. Young and strong, but naive to the ways of castle life, they stick it out and find their callings no matter how surprising they might be. Prince Flynn charms the reader as much as he does Azalin. As their relationships buds, there are several obstacles in their way. Dionne adeptly sets them up and brings them through. The love she writes is sweet and true, and gives the reader a taste of something amazingly pure even though they are surrounded by secret plots, war and social intrigue.
As the story rolls along, the reader is pulled deeper and deeper into it. Dionne's characters are real and true to themselves. The magic in the book is not overused or abused as a tool to make things go easier for Azalin and her allies. Dionne knows just the right amount to toss in and wraps up the multiple threads like a master storyteller.
